1 〔正当〕 right; justice; fairness; 〔適当〕 propriety.

●当を得る be right [appropriate, just, fair, proper, suitable, wise]; be in order [place]; have done well to do

・当を得ない[失する] be wrong; be unjust; be unfair; be improper; give an unfair picture

・この研究所の設置は最も当を得たものである. The establishment of this institute is a most opportune scheme.
